Hello/Welcome to Rusty Dead Things Photography!

Hello!

My name's Kyle Roerick and I love taking pictures. Not too sure when it started, but all I know is that it did. Taking pictures is, for me at least, incredibly exciting; I could take my camera out for a whole day and just walk, and walk, and walk trying to find my subject.

Sometimes I don't even find anything, even after a long day of searching. The act of just getting outside with an open mind, to find the beauty in the ugly, makes it all worth it.

I'm an amateur, self-teaching as I go along. I know what I think looks good and try to capture it to the best of my abilities using a Canon (SD450 Powershot) Point and Shoot, and at times, my 35mm SLR (Nikkon F55). I like using film, but my love for digital photos, particularly in editing the colours, tones, etc is strong. I would like to someday invest in a Digital SLR, however, the student budget clearly prohibits me from doing so.

I love to photograph rust, peeling paint, old brick, muddy boots, mossy rock, broken down cars and trucks, or anything that looks decrepit, dying, dead, at a loss for words. I like to give the subjects new life and meaning when I shoot them, allowing them to live on again as works of photographic art. 

Industrial sites, old railroads and railways, farms, or any place with old rusty objects just lying around, barely noticed by the passer-by, until I come along...

I decided to set up Rusty Dead Things Photography because I really like the idea of sharing my love of photography and my photographs themselves, with others. 

I won't ever claim to be an expert; I am a student-of-life and will always seek advice, understanding, and various different paths of learning (in this case, with photography). If anyone wants to leave comments or advice how some of my photos could be better, etc I welcome it gladly.

I hope someday I will have a greater knowledge of the various mechanisms and techniques of the photographic arts. For now, I know my love for those arts are strong and will continue to grow, every time I take a shot.
